Le guide est tout particulièrement désigné pour la visite des parcs cités dans le titre. Le champ est donc plus spécifique, néanmoins les informations sont précises et globalement à jour.Particulièrement destiné aux amateurs de randos, plus particulièrement des randos à la journée plus que des treks. Ce ne sont pas des randonnées nécessairement faciles mais il y en a tout pour tous les niveaux, de la promenade à la rando plus exigeante.Les informations sont utiles, variées et bien construites.Le guide a largement facilité nos choix et la construction du séjour.Je conseillerais moins ce guide a des gens qui s'orientent vers des randonnées complexes / longues.
If you are interested in the Canadian Rockies, and these parks in particular, because you want to be outside, on the trails, in a boat, this is the best overall guide I could find. There are other guides that focus in on detailed specifics of 200+ trails, and the Moon guide will focus more on where to stay and what to eat. For the hiker and backpacker, this has much more information than Moon, with just enough detail on towns and facilities to get you from place to place.
This is exactly the vacation that we took, and we read just about every page of this book. Info is accurate to a tee! If I was going to ask for anything more it would be to have a larger (perhaps fold out?) Map of each park instead of maps of sections of each park. But we ended up getting those kinds of maps at ranger stations so it didn't matter in the end.
Given the popularity of these parks, I was surprised to find little on the internet about them, especially Banff. Despite doing a lot of research on the internet, this book added tremendously to our trip to Banff Park. Well organized, thoughtful, packed with useful tips, and accurate even though it's a bit dated now.
I used this book for my recent trip to Banff and Jasper. I originally got a book for all the national parks, but it didn't have enough detail. This was much better. Lots of little details about hikes and surrounding area. I kept it with me the entire trip. The maps were pretty good and accurate. I was able to use it for Banff, Jasper and even Yoho, as it included surrounding areas. Glad I bought this book and returned the other.
Poorly worded title "Lonely Planet Banff, Jasper and Glacier National Parks". This is a book about the Canadian places of Banff & Jasper and the US Glacier National Park, NOT the Canadian Glacier National Park. Very misleading.
